Special Weather Statement issued December 27 at 10:28PM EST by NWS Upton NY A brief period of freezing rain is possible with the onset of rain between 1am and 4am. Temperatures have radiated into the upper 20s to 32 F this evening under clear skies and calm winds. Temperatures are likely to rise just above freezing in most areas by the time of rainfall onset as cloud cover quickly increases. Ground temperatures though, may still linger around freezing in spots through 5am, causing patchy icing of untreated surfaces. Motorists are advised to slow down and use caution traveling tonight, and be alert for patchy black ice, particularly on elevated roadways.

Suffolk County Police investigate road rage incident involving shooting and handgun threat in Deer Park.

Suffolk County Police First Squad detectives are investigating a road rage incident in Deer Park today.
 
A man was approaching the intersection of Commack Road and Marcus Boulevard when he was shot by what appears to be a BB gun or gel pellets, coming from a black Hyundai at approximately 10:55 a.m.
 
The victim exited the vehicle to confront the individuals when a male driver exited the vehicle and pointed a black handgun at the victim. The male shot the passenger tires of the vehicle, causing the tires to become flat. The victim fled the area and contacted police. He did not need medical attention.
