Suffolk County Police today arrested a West Islip woman for falsely reporting men with guns were inside her home.

Suffolk County Police received a 911 call from Melissa O’Brien, who called from a neighbor’s house and reported two men with guns were inside her home, located at 132 Gladstone Ave. When police arrived, she repeated the information and officers surrounded the house. A short time later, a family member exited the home after observing the police activity and told officers there was no one inside. A check of the house revealed there was no one in the house.

An officer responding to the call was involved in a motor vehicle crash on Saxon Avenue and Union

Boulevard in Bay Shore. The officer was transported to a local hospital where she was treated for non-life-threatening injuries. The other driver was not injured.

O’Brien, 32, was charged with Falsely Reporting an Incident. She was issued a Field Appearance Ticket and is scheduled to appear at First District Court in Central Islip on July 6.
