AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM EDT THIS EVENING The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has issued an Air Quality Health Advisory for the following areas: All five boroughs of New York City, and Westchester, Rockland, Nassau, and Suffolk counties. Until 11 PM EDT this evening. Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than an Air Quality Index value of 100 for the pollutant of Ground Level Ozone. The New York State Department of Health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants include the very young, and those with preexisting respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease. Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal physician. A toll free air quality hotline has been established so New York residents can stay informed on the air quality situation. Three juveniles were arrested for attempting to burglarize Merrick Bicycles, with the youngest facing multiple charges for additional burglaries at the same location

The First Squad reports the arrest of three male juveniles for an Attempted Burglary that occurred on Sunday, June 16, 2024 at 10:35 p.m. in Merrick.
 
According to Detectives, Officers responded to Merrick Bicycles, located at 1829 Merrick Avenue, for a Burglary in progress. Officers located and arrested three male juveniles: 13, 14, and 17 years old, at the scene without incident. Subsequent to the investigation, Detectives determined that the 13 and 17-year-old juveniles were responsible for two additional Burglaries, which occurred at the same business on Friday, May 24, 2024 and Saturday, June 8, 2024.
 
The 13-year-old male juvenile is charged with two counts of Burglary 3 rd Degree, Attempted Burglary 3 rd Degree, Grand Larceny 4 th Degree, Petit Larceny, and Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 4 th Degree. He was issued an appearance ticket and released.
 
The 14-year-old male juvenile is charged with Attempted Burglary 3 rd Degree.He was issued an appearance ticket and released.
 
The 17-year-old male juvenile is charged with two counts of Burglary 3 rd Degree, Attempted Burglary 3 rd Degree, Grand Larceny 4 th Degree, Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 4 th Degree, Petit Larceny, Possession of Burglar Tools, and Criminal Mischief 3 rd Degree. He will be arraigned on Monday, June 17, 2024 at First District Court, 99 Main Street in Hempstead.
