Take a blast into the past at a classic car show!

Summertime is here and the days are getting long and the nights are warm. What better way to spend a fun evening than to take a blast into the past and cruise by classic car shows across Long Island?

There are many different kinds of car shows, ranging from casual gatherings to formal national events. For car enthusiasts, the classic car hobby is as much about meeting people with similar interests as it is about enjoying the cars.

Visitors are always welcome to view the cars. Often the admission fee to view the cars is a fundraiser for a specific charity. Before a show, car owners spend a great deal of time and energy cleaning and detailing their vehicles.  Motorcycle owners also have similar shows.

It is important to know proper show etiquette. It is considered inappropriate to touch another person's car without permission. Bicycles, rollerblades and strollers are not permitted near cars to avoid accidental dents or scratches.

Even if you're not particularly enamored with cars (i.e. the wife? the kids?), these various car shows are still lots of fun. Depending on the venue, the activities range from live music, food and craft booths, and entertainment for the youngsters.

Here are some upcoming car and motorcycle shows:
