After being closed for 3 weeks, the Fire Island Lighthouse tower has finally reopened on June 28! The 3 week closure was due to taking measures in better monitoring the status of the tower after years of wear and tear as well as harsh weather conditions. Not to worry though, the tower is very safe and secure! The tower opens at 10 am and closes at 5 pm daily while the Keeper’s Quarters opens at 10 am and closes at 6 pm. In this month of July, the tower stays open until 7 pm and the lighthouse until 8 pm every Saturday. In addition, they are offering an event for children 7-12 years old called Jr. Lighthouse Keeper’s on July 10, 17, 24, and 31! Be sure to go visit the Fire Island Lighthouse for some spectacular views and to learn some more about Long Island’s history!
