Farmingdale Crash Unveils Shocking Twist: Juvenile Behind the Wheel Faces DWI and Leandra's Law Charges

The Nassau County Police Department reports the details of a DWI Leandra Law arrest that occurred on Sunday, July 9, 2023 at 6:30 PM in Farmingdale.
 
According to Police, Officers responded to a 911 call for an auto accident located at 6 Park Avenue. A male juvenile, 16, was operating a 2011 white Chrysler westbound on Park Avenue when the vehicle left the roadway and struck a home.
 
Upon arrival, Officers observed the defendant to have slurred speech. A Field Sobriety Test was conducted with positive results and the operator of the vehicle was placed under arrest without incident. A male juvenile, 15, who was a passenger in the vehicle was released into the custody of a family member who responded to the scene.  No injuries were reported and the vehicle was impounded.
 
The Defendant is charged with Driving While Intoxicated, Aggravated DWI, Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated (Child under 16) Leandra’s Law, Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Reckless Endangerment and multiple Vehicle and Traffic Law violations.
 
The defendant was released on an Appearance Ticket and will appear at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead on Monday, July 24, 2023.
