Teen Hero Saves Two from Drowning at Point Lookout Beach!

A 16-year-old heroically rescued two teens from drowning at Point Lookout Beach, with all three transported to the hospital for evaluation.

The Public Information Office reports the details of a Water Emergency that occurred on Wednesday, July 10, 2024 at 8:20 pm in Point Lookout.
 
According to police, 911 received a call for a 17-year-old and 19-year-old males swimming in distress in the vicinity of the Point Lookout Town Beach near the Jetty. A 16-year- old male juvenile went into the water and pulled both males to safety. The Point Lookout Fire Department and Nassau County Police Medics transported all three males to a local area hospital for further evaluation and treatment.
 
The Nassau County Police Department recommends that swimmers always be cognizant of their surroundings and dangerous riptides. Swim only where lifeguards are present and during daylight hours only.
