AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT FROM 11 AM TO 11 PM EDT SUNDAY The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has issued an Air Quality Health Advisory for the following counties: Nassau, Suffolk, from 11 AM to 11 PM EDT Sunday. Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than an Air Quality Index value of 100 for the pollutant of Ground Level Ozone. The Air Quality Index, or AQI, was created as an easy way to correlate levels of different pollutants to one scale. The higher the AQI value, the greater the health concern. When pollution levels are elevated, the New York State Department of Health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants include the very young, and those with preexisting respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease. Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal physician. A toll free air quality hotline has been established so New York residents can stay informed on the air quality situation. Nassau County sting operation leads to the arrest of three individuals for illegally selling alcohol and tobacco to minors

The Fifth Precinct reports the arrest of three (3) men during the “Project 21” initiative, which targets the sale of alcoholic beverages and tobacco products to minors. The initiative was conducted on Wednesday, July 12, 2023 in Nassau
County.
 
According to officers, the Problem Oriented Policing (POP) Unit, with the assistance of underage agents, arrested the following individuals as a result of this operation:
 
 Alejandro Bonilla-Prado, 65 of 142-19 Lakewood Avenue, Jamaica, New York, sold alcohol to a minor at SMB Grocery, 1391 Hempstead Turnpike, Elmont. He is charged with Prohibited Sale of an Alcoholic Beverage to a Minor,
Unlawfully Dealing with a Child 1st Degree, and Unlawful Sale without Appropriate License.
 
 Jashanpreet Singh, 18, of 107 Landau Avenue, Elmont, sold alcohol and tobacco products to a minor at Valero Gas Station, 578 Franklin Avenue, North Valley Stream. He is charged with Prohibited Sale of an Alcoholic Beverage, Unlawfully Dealing with a Child 1st Degree, Unlawfully Dealing with a Child 2nd Degree, Unlawful Sale of Tobacco Products, Unlawful Sale of Tobacco Products to a Minor and Improper Posting of License.
 
 Mohmmed Elmadah, 25, of 3406 45 th Street, Apt. 4c, Long Island City, New York, sold tobacco products to a minor at Gas Pac Snack Box, 127 Hempstead Turnpike, Elmont. He is charged with Unlawfully Dealing with a Child 2nd Degree, Unlawful Sale of Tobacco Products, Unlawful Sale of Tobacco Products to a Minor, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 5th Degree and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7 th Degree.
 
Defendant Bonilla-Prado and Defendant Singh were issued Desk Appearance Tickets returnable on Friday, July 28, 2023 to First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead. Defendant Elmadah will be arraigned on Thursday, July 13, 2023 at First District Court, 99 Main Street Hempstead.
