14-Year-Old Motorcyclist Seriously Injured in Crash with Automobile

Suffolk County Police are investigating a crash that seriously injured a teenage motorcyclist and injured his teenage passenger in Bay Shore last night.
 
A 14-year-old male was operating an electric motorcycle eastbound on Union Boulevard when he ran a red light at the intersection of Saxon Avenue and crashed the motorcycle into a northbound 2020 Tesla traveling through the intersection with a green light, at approximately 8 p.m.
 
The 14-year-old operator of the motorcycle, of Islip, was transported to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore for treatment of serious injuries. His 14-year-old female passenger, of Islip Terrace, was transported to the same hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Tesla, Mark C., 66, of West Babylon, and two adult passengers in the Tesla were not injured.
 
Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks. Detectives are asking anyone with information on the crash to contact the Third Squad at 631-854-8352.
