Baldwin man arrested for Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated with a juvenile passenger, facing charges under Leandra's Law.

The Nassau County Police Department reports the arrest of a Baldwin man for Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated (Leandra’s Law) on Sunday, July 16, 2023 at 9:00 PM in Baldwin.
 
According to Police, an Officer on routine patrol observed a grey 2020 Hyundai Sonata committ multiple Vehicle Traffic Infractions and conducted a Vehicle and Traffic Law stop on Clyde Road. The Officer approached the vehicle and observed the driver, defendant David M. Dorsey ll, 39, of 1038 Clyde Road, with glassy eyes and the odor of alcohol emanating from his breath.
 
Further investigation revealed the driver to have blood shot, watery eyes and to be unsteady on his feet resulting in positive results on the Standardized Field Sobriety Test. Defendant
David M. Dorsey ll was placed under arrest without incident.
 
No injuries were reported. The vehicles passenger, a female juvenile, 10, was released into the custody of a family member that responded to scene.
 
Defendant David M. Dorsey ll is charged with Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated (Child under 16) under the Leandra’s Law, Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Driving While Intoxicated, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 1 st Degree and multiple Vehicle and Traffic Infractions. Defendant David M. Dorsey ll will be arraigned on Monday, July 17, 2023 at First District Court, 99 Main Street Hempstead.
