The Fifth Squad reports the arrest of a Springfield Gardens man for an incident that occurred on Friday, July 21, 2023 at 2:20 pm in Valley Stream.
According to Detectives, a female victim, 19, while asleep in her residence was awoken by her boyfriend who had entered her home through an unlocked window.
After a verbal argument ensued, it became physical when the Defendant, Paul James, 19, of 145-28 231 st Street grabbed the victim around her neck and obstructed her breathing. He then proceeded to strike her multiple times causing abrasions and swelling to her face. The defendant then fled scene and police were notified.
The victim refused medical attention at scene.
Subsequent to the investigation, the Defendant Paul James was arrested without incident and is charged with Burglary 2 nd Degree, Assault 3 rd Degree and Obstruction of Breathing / Strangulation 2 nd Degree. He will be arraigned on Saturday, July 22, 2023 at First District Court 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
