Officers Deliver Baby in Amityville Home

Two Suffolk County Police officers helped an Amityville woman deliver a baby in her home yesterday.
 
First Precinct Officers Peter Verhey and Joshua Valderrama responded to the Amityville residence after a 911 caller reported a woman in labor. When the officers arrived, they found the woman, Aylara Alleyne, in labor in the bathroom of the home. The officers assisted Alleyne, 34, in delivering a baby boy, EMTs arrived shortly after.
 
The mother and baby were transported to Good Samaritan University Hospital in West Islip in good condition.
