Suffolk County Police Major Case Unit detectives are investigating a hit-and-run crash that killed a pedestrian last night in Central Islip.
Paul Benjamin was in the roadway at the intersection of Carleton Avenue and Elmore Street when he was struck by a dark colored SUV at approximately 8:30 p.m. The SUV fled the scene southbound on Carleton Avenue.
Benjamin, 68, of Central Islip, was transported to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore where he was pronounced dead.
