LI's Adorable Adoptables is a weekly column by Allison Matos, a lifelong Long Island resident who has been advocating animal adoption since 2012. Allison's weekly posts highlight local animals in need of adoption, and cover general animal welfare topics as well.
“5 Dogs and a Kitty” is the title of this week’s article. These sweet animals are all available for adoption this week. It’s my pleasure to introduce you to Benji, Gremlin, Bubba Gump, Doug, Tinker, and of course, Nolan.
Available at Sweetest Dog Rescue this week are some of the cutest little dogs you could meet. Benji is a gorgeous little scruffy terrier/chihuahua male rescued from a hoarding situation. Tipping the scales at just 12 lbs, this sweet little man is loved by the staff and is described as one of the cutest dogs you could meet.
Gremlin is a sweet little 8 year old cream/tan chihuahua who is melting the hearts of the Sweetest Rescue Staff. For the tiny dog lovers out there, this 8lb puppy is sure to win you over!
Bubba Gump is a 2 year old chihuahua mix, a truly sweet boy weighing about 12 lbs. Bubba was adopted through another organization, and returned because his owner became ill and couldn't care for him the way he did in the past. Bubba Gump is a little uneasy at the shelter, but he would prove to be the best friend a human could have if you took him home today. Benji, Gremlin or Bubba Gump can be seen this Saturday at the Animal Pantry, 620 Sunrise Highway (on the eastbound side service road), West Babylon. Or if interested, you can contact the shelter at sweetestdogrescue@gmail.com.
Waiting for his forever home at the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter is one handsome pooch named Doug. A new resident of the shelter, Doug is a 4 year old Shepherd mix who loves other dogs and cats, and would do best in a home with teens/adults. Please consider adopting this super cute Shepherd today... he desperately needs a loving, safe home. Come to the shelter and ask to meet him today, or call for more information: 516-785-5220.
That cute terrier you have your eyes on is Tinker! Poor Tinker has lost 2 doting homes because of adopters’ health issues. Tinker is about 5 years old and is described as affectionate and playful. Tinker needs a one pet home without small children to thrive. She will do best with a person who understands and appreciates the antics of a true Terrier. For more information about Tinker, check out her webpage.
Okay Kitty lovers- meet Nolan! Nolan is was born in March 2015 and even though he is a brown tabby, his markings make him look like a Bengal kitty. Rescued with his brother, Grayson, they were fostered and are now ready to find their forever homes. Nolan is gorgeous and very friendly. Loves to play and snuggle and is even good with other cats. Come over and meet this adorable guy and take him (and maybe his brother) home today! Check out Nolan’s webpage.
Thanks for reading and please remember to always adopt- never shop!
