Tyriek Corbin, a resident of Mastic, found himself facing a 13-year prison sentence following a verdict delivered by the Suffolk County Court on Tuesday, August 8. Corbin was found guilty by a jury for his involvement in a shooting incident that unfolded in August 2022.
According to the Suffolk County District Attorney's office, the altercation took place on August 14, 2022, when Corbin engaged in a heated dispute with two individuals inside a vehicle. The victims were in the midst of searching for a missing French Bulldog puppy along Lockwood Drive in Shirley.
The confrontation rapidly escalated, leading Corbin to retreat into a nearby residence. Disturbingly, he reemerged brandishing a loaded firearm. In a shocking turn of events, Corbin discharged several rounds at the departing victims' vehicle as they attempted to flee the scene. Miraculously, neither of the victims sustained injuries, although their vehicle bore the scars of the encounter with three bullet holes.
Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond Tierney expressed his disbelief at the situation, stating, "The fact that this defendant fired shots on a residential street following a discussion about the search for a lost puppy, is incomprehensible and will not be tolerated here in Suffolk County."
Tierney further emphasized the reckless nature of Corbin's actions, highlighting the potential for serious harm or even loss of life resulting from his violent act. The consequences of his actions caught up with him, and the court's ruling dictates that Corbin will spend a considerable amount of time incarcerated as a result.
