Dockside Drama: Bold Boat Heist Foiled, Man Faces Grand Larceny Charges

Virginia man arrested after attempting a daring boat heist in Manorhaven, facing Grand Larceny charges and causing a dockside collision.

The Sixth Squad reports the arrest of a Virginia man for an Attempted Grand Larceny that occurred Wednesday, August 9, 2023 at 8:40 a.m. in Manorhaven.

According to Detectives, witnesses observed defendant Benjamin Fields, 47, of 201 Fairfax Road, Blacksburg, standing on a boat he doesn’t own on the docks of 10 Matinicock Avenue. When confronted, Defendant Fields untied the boat from the dock which caused it to crash into another docked boat causing damage. He then attempted to flee the scene on foot and was apprehended by Police a short time later.

Defendant Benjamin Fields is charged with Grand Larceny 1st Degree, and Criminal Mischief 4th Degree. He will be arraigned on Thursday, August 10, 2023 in First District Court 99 Main Street Hempstead.
