The New York State Department of Transportation is advising motorists of overnight closures at the interchange of the Long Island Expressway (Interstate 495) and the Sagtikos State Parkway in the Towns of Islip and Smithtown, Suffolk County to facilitate a project improving connectivity to Crooked Hill Road (Suffolk County Route 13).
Beginning on Monday, August 14 between the hours of 10 p.m. and 6 a.m., weather permitting, for approximately two weeks:
- One lane on southbound Sagtikos Parkway will be closed between Exit S1E (Long Island Expressway eastbound) and Exit S2 (Pilgrim Psych Center).
Beginning on or about Monday, August 28 between the hours of 11 p.m. and 6 a.m., weather permitting, for approximately two weeks:
- Sagtikos Parkway southbound will be closed between Exit S1E (Long Island Expressway eastbound) and Exit S2 (Pilgrim Psych Center).
- Ramps to southbound Sagtikos Parkway from both directions of the Long Island Expressway at Exit 53 will be closed.
There will be a signed detour directing motorists towards Wicks Road southbound to Pine Aire Drive westbound for access to southbound Sagtikos Parkway.

Motorists are urged to plan accordingly and drive responsibly in work zones. Fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone. Convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of an individual’s driver license.
