Suffolk County Police arrested Daniel Shiels, a Babylon man, for burglarizing a home and stealing a truck, after the homeowner followed and stopped him

Suffolk County Police today arrested a Babylon man for burglarizing a residence and stealing a truck this morning.
 
First Precinct officers responded to a 911 call reporting an unknown person had stolen a vehicle from the driveway of an Araca Road home in Babylon at 7:06 a.m. Officers found the homeowner had followed the man in the stolen 2020 Dodge Ram and was able to stop him in front of another home a short distance away on The Crescent. Officers took the man, Daniel Shiels, into custody.
 
First Squad detectives determined Shiels had entered the victim’s home while three residents were inside and stole two sets of car keys before leaving in in the Ram.
 
Shiels, 43, 95 Midway St., was charged with Burglary 2nd Degree, Grand Larceny 3rd Degree and Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 3rd Degree. He is being held overnight at the Third Precinct for arraignment at First District Court in Central Islip on August 12.
