Dramatic Franklin Square Robbery Foiled: Fifth Squad's Swift Action Leads to Arrest of Juvenile Suspect

The Fifth Squad reports the details of a Robbery that occurred on Saturday, August 12, 2023 at 8:50 pm in Franklin Square.
 
According to Detectives, three (3) male juveniles were approached by an unknown male in the rear of Valley Stream North High School located at 750 Herman Avenue. The suspect approached the victims, threatened the use of a weapon and demanded their property that was in their pockets. A brief struggle ensued after the subject grabbed one of the male juveniles around his neck and obstructed his breathing putting him in fear for his life.
 
The juvenile was able to escape and they were able to regain their property back. The subject fled scene.
 
Subsequent to the investigation the Defendant, a male juvenile, 17, was located in front of a Catalpa Drive residence and was arrested without incident. The Defendant and one of the
male juvenile victims were transported to a local area hospital for evaluation and
treatment.
 
The Defendant is charged with Robbery 1st Degree, Robbery 2nd Degree, Assault 3rd Degree, Unlawful Imprisonment 2nd Degree and Criminal Obstruction of Breathing. He will be arraigned on Sunday, August 13, 2023 at First District Court 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
