Daring Robbery Suspect Apprehended: Major Case Bureau Cracks Down on Cedarhurst Heist and Unveils Links to Previous Robbery Spree

The Major Case Bureau reports an Arrest for a Robbery that occurred on Friday, August 18, 2023 at 12:25 AM in Cedarhurst.
 
According to Robbery Squad Detectives, Defendant Reggie Rivas, 26, of 22-26 Edgemere Avenue, Far Rockaway did enter the Bolla Sunoco Gas Station located at 360 Rockaway Turnpike, Cedarhurst and approached the employee.
 
The Defendant did point a black / silver handgun at the victim and demanded cash. The victim complied and handed the subject an undetermined amount of US currency. The
employee was then order to lay on the ground as the defendant fled scene in an unknown direction. No injuries were reported.
 
Subsequent to the investigation, the Defendant Reggie Rivas was located by Fourth Precinct police in the vicinity of Baywater Boulevard and Cedar Road in Inwood where he refused verbal commands. One officer sustained a leg injury during the course of the arrest as the defendant was violent and combative while resisting arrest.
 
The Fourth Precinct police officer was transported to a local hospital and treated for his injury. The Defendant is charged with Robbery 2nd Degree, Assault 2nd Degree, Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 5 th Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th Degree, Menacing 2nd Degree and Resisting Arrest. He was arraigned on Saturday, August 19, 2023 in First District Court 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
 
Further investigation revealed that the Defendant Reggie Rivas was also responsible for an additional Robbery that occurred on Saturday, August 5, 2023 at another Sunoco Gas Station located at 471 Burnside Avenue in Inwood and is being additionally charged with Robbery 2nd Degree.
