Far Rockaway Man Arrested for Public Lewdness on Cedarhurst Bus After Threatening Passengers, Including Two Minors

The Fourth Squad reports the arrest of a Far Rockaway man for Public Lewdness that occurred on Monday, August 19, 2024 at 9:15 a.m. in Cedarhurst.
 
According to Detectives, a 30-year-old male victim, a 17 and a 7-year-old female victim, were riding the MTA bus in the vicinity of Rockaway Turnpike and Rugby Road when another passenger, defendant Dwight Poorman, 61, became irate and pulled down his pants exposing himself to the victims. He proceeded to threaten the victims with a stick, but no injuries were reported.
 
Officers arrived and placed defendant Poorman was placed under arrest without incident. He was transported to a local area hospital for evaluation.
 
Defendant Poorman is charged with Public Lewdness 1st Degree: victim less than 16 years old, Exposure of a Person, Endangering the Welfare of a Child and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree.
 
He will be arraigned when medically practical.
