The First Squad is investigating an Assault that occurred on Thursday, August 24, 2023 at 2:30 p.m. in Uniondale.
According to detectives, a grey 2021 Mercedes-Benz G30 operated by an unknown driver was traveling southbound in front of the Van Ness Fire Station Uniondale Fire Department located at 154 Uniondale Avenue. The vehicle passed through a flashing red traffic light and a fire truck with their emergency lights active on. Two firefighters exited the truck and gave traffic directions to the subject. The subject disregarded their directions and struck the two firefighters with her vehicle causing injury to the 48-year-old firefighter’s leg and substantial pain to the 20-year-old firefighter’s back. The subject fled the scene in an unknown direction. Both
victims were transported to a local hospital for treatment and evaluation. The investigation is ongoing.
