Suffolk County SPCA Charges Two Woman From Bohemia With Animal Abandonment

Detectives from the Suffolk County SPCA, charged two Bohemia women that abandoned a black cat at South Denver Avenue in Bay Shore.

Detectives from the Suffolk County SPCA, charged two Bohemia women that abandoned a black cat at South Denver Avenue in Bay Shore. 

 

Roy Gross, Chief of the Suffolk SPCA, said that its Detectives charged Jillian Fitzpatrick, 43, and Janine Albrecht ,69, of Bohemia New York, with one count each of Abandonment and Conspiracy for abandoning “Rocky”, an 6 year old male cat, on July 10th 2023 at 3:55PM. The defendants abandoned “Rocky” at the end of South Denver Avenue in Bay Shore within a few hundred feet of the defunct Town of Islip Animal Shelter that was replaced with a new building several years ago. The two were interrupted by a good Samaritan that contacted the SPCA and has since been caring for the cat, who most recently underwent surgery on August 17th, 2023. 

 

Albrecht and Fitzpatrick were arrested on August 27, 2023, by SPCA detectives and are scheduled to appear at First District Court in Central Islip, on September 15th, 2023.
