Tragic Bay Shore House Fire Claims Life of 77-Year-Old Man; Investigation Ongoing

A 77-year-old man tragically died in a Bay Shore house fire, with detectives investigating the incident as non-criminal in nature

Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad and Arson Section detectives are investigating a house fire that killed a man in Bay Shore today.
 
Third Precinct officers responded to a 911 call reporting a fire at a home, located at 16 Oklahoma Ave., at 12:26 p.m. A resident of the home, Artemio Gonzalez, had been removed from the house by a family member, a good Samaritan and a Third Precinct officer.
 
Gonzalez, 77, was transported to South Shore Hospital in Bay Shore where he was pronounced dead.
 
The family member and a Third Precinct officer were transported to a local hospital for  treatment of smoke inhalation.
 
Following a preliminary investigation, detectives believe the cause of the fire to be non-criminal in nature. Anyone with information on this incident is asked to contact Homicide Squad detectives at 631-852-6392.
