Suffolk County Police today arrested an Eastern Suffolk BOCES teacher for engaging in a sexual relationship with a student in 2020.
Following an investigation by Special Victims Section detectives, William Sperl was arrested at Eastern Suffolk BOCES, located at 350 Martha Ave., Bellport, at approximately 12:05 p.m. yesterday.
Sperl is currently an audio production teacher for the Riverhead campus of Eastern Suffolk BOCES and engaged in a sexual relationship with a female student in 2020 while the student was a minor.
Sperl, 60, of 125 Claremont St., Deer Park, was charged with four counts of Rape 3rd Degree and seven counts of Criminal Sex Act 3rd Degree, all felonies. Sperl is being held overnight at the Third Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on August 30.
