Westbury Man Arrested for Illegal Firearm Possession After Handgun Found in Residence

The Second Squad reports the arrest of a Westbury man for Criminal Possession of a Weapon on Saturday, August 31, 2024 at 12:00 pm in Westbury.
 
According to detectives, a female complainant, 42, contacted police when she found a canvass bag in her Westbury residence containing a handgun. Upon arrival, police determined that Patrick Martinez, 41, was illegally in possession of a loaded Smith & Wesson .40 caliber handgun.
 
During the investigation, Defendant Martinez returned to the residence and was placed into police custody without incident. The investigation also resulted in the recovery of a bag containing lose .40 caliber ammunition that was additionally in the defendant’s possession.
 
Defendant Patrick Martinez is charged with Criminal Possession of a Firearm, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd Degree. He will be arraigned on Sunday, September 1, 2024 at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
