Two Men Arrested for Neglect of 19 Puppies in Vehicle

Suffolk County Police have arrested two North Carolina men for neglecting puppies in crates inside a vehicle in Wyandanch last night.
 
While on patrol, First Precinct Crime Section officers observed a 2022 Jeep Compass with 19 puppies in two crates, in the parking lot of 301 Merritt Ave. The Pit Bulls were without sufficient air, shelter, food and water. The animals were covered in feces.
 
The puppies were transported to local animal shelters.
During a further investigation, two loaded firearms were recovered.
 
Russell Brown, 67, and Jamar Belle, 28, were both charged with 19 counts of Neglect of an Impounded Animal, one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree and one count of Criminal Possession of a Firearm. They were also charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Child as there was a 2-year-old in the vehicle with weapons inside. The child is in the custody of Child Protective Services.
 
Brown and Belle will be held overnight at the Third Precinct and will be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip tomorrow.
