Hicksville Woman Arrested for $340K Fraud Scheme Against Former Employer

A Hicksville woman was arrested for allegedly stealing over $340,000 from her former employer by using forged checks and committing identity theft.

The Fraud and Forgery Unit reports the arrest of a Hicksville woman on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, at 4:05 PM for an incident that occurred in Plainview.
 
According to detectives, an extensive investigation revealed that the Defendant Elizabeth Stern, 52, of 23 Arpad Street, was responsible for stealing from her former employer, Superior Air Condition & amp; Heating Systems Inc. Detectives state that over an 18-month period, the defendant paid off her personal credit cards with checks that were stolen from the victim totaling approximately $301,958. During that same time period, she also cashed checks totaling approximately $38,000. The defendant was arrested at her residence without incident.
 
Defendant Stern is charged with Grand Larceny 2 nd Degree, five (5) counts of Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument 2 nd Degree, five (5) counts of Identity Theft 1 st Degree, five (5) counts of Unlawful Possession of Personal Identifying Information 3 rd Degree and Falsifying Business Records 1 st Degree. She will be arraigned on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, at First District Court, Hempstead.
