Suffolk County Police Seventh Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that seriously injured a man yesterday afternoon.

Malik Walker was driving a 2012 Ford EC4 minibus westbound on Middle Country Road, just east of Ridge Road, when the vehicle rear ended a 2010 Ford Escape at 3:52 p.m. The force of the crash spun the Escape, pushing it into a westbound traveling 2023 Ford F-150 being driven by Joseph Puig.

The driver of the Escape, who is not being identified pending notification of next of kin, was taken via Suffolk County Police helicopter to Stony Brook University Hospital where he is in critical condition.

Neither Walker, 22, of Coram, or Puig, 59, of Shirley, were injured.

The minibus and the Escape were both impounded for safety checks. Anyone with information on the crash is asked to contact Seventh Squad detectives at 631-852-8752.
