The Special Victims Squad reports the arrest of an undomiciled man for an Attempted Rape that occurred on Friday, August 4, 2023 at 5:30 am in Inwood.
According to detectives, a 50-year-old female victim was walking on Nassau Avenue when a male suspect approached her from behind. The suspect forcefully wrapped his arms around the victims waist and dragged her to a concealed area between two parked vehicles next to the sidewalk. A struggle began and the suspect pushed the victim to the ground, positioning himself on top of her while attempting to remove her pants.
The suspect began to strike the victim multiple times in the head, with a closed fist, causing her substantial pain. As a result, the victim sustained numerous injuries. The victim was able to escape and the defendant fled the scene.
After a thorough investigation, the suspect was located and arrested without incident. Defendant Freddie Keitt, 44, is charged with Attempted Rape 1 st Degree and Assault 3rd Degree.
He will be arraigned on Wednesday, September 6, 2023 at First District Court in Hempstead.
