The Public Information Office reports the arrest of a Bayville man for an incident that occurred on Tuesday, September 3, 2024 at 2:30 pm in Bayville.

According to Detectives, a male juvenile, 13, was riding his bicycle on 7th Street when a male juvenile, 11, exited his home carrying a black shotgun instructing the bicyclist to get away from his residence. The bicyclist, in fear for his safety, immediately returned home and reported the incident to his
parents.

Officers responded to a 7th Street residence and spoke to the juveniles’ father, Defendant Alfredo Caceres, 55, who instructed police he does in fact possess various weapons. The defendant voluntarily relinquished an unloaded Mossberg Maverick 20 Gauge shotgun, an unloaded Mossberg 12 Gauge shotgun and an unloaded Crossman .22 caliber pellet gun to officers that were easily and readily accessible and unsecured.

The defendant was placed under arrest without incident and the weapons were confiscated.

Further investigation determined that the male juvenile, 11, never pointed the shotgun at anyone and no one was placed in danger.

Defendant Alfredo Caceres is charged with Failure to Safely Store Firearms 1st Degree. He was released on an Appearance Ticket returnable on Tuesday, September 17, 2024 to First District Court 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
