Teen Rollerblader Critically Injured in Lake Ronkonkoma Crash: Police Seek Witnesses

A 14-year-old boy was critically injured after being struck by a car while rollerblading in Lake Ronkonkoma, prompting police to seek witnesses.

Suffolk County Police Sixth Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that seriously injured a teenage pedestrian in Lake Ronkonkoma yesterday.
 
Barbara Wild was driving a 2024 Volkswagen SUV on Smith Road, near Cenacle Road, when the vehicle struck a 14-year-old boy who was rollerblading in the roadway, at approximately 4:30 p.m.
 
The teenager was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital in critical condition. Wild, 56, of Nesconset, was not injured.
 
The Volkswagen was impounded for a safety check.
