Undomiciled Man Arrested for Grand Larceny After High-Speed Chase in Mineola

A 27-year-old undomiciled man was arrested for grand larceny after stealing a car in Mineola and leading police on a high-speed chase that ended in a crash.

The Third Squad reports the arrest of an undomiciled male for a Grand Larceny that occurred on Thursday, September 19, 2024 at 11:15 a.m. in Mineola. According to Detectives, the female victim, 69, parked her 2011 white Corolla Toyota in a marked parking spot on Jericho Turnpike and left the keys in the center console. The victim was returning to her vehicle when she observed it drive away eastbound on Jericho Turnpike by an unknown subject. She called
911 and reported the incident. Officers observed the vehicle driving westbound on Jericho Turnpike in the vicinity of Old Courthouse Road. Officers activated their emergency lights and attempted to conduct a Vehicle and Traffic Law stop but the vehicle refused to pull over. A short time later, the vehicle crashed into a parked car on Central Avenue near 2 nd Street in Garden City Park. Eleya Dah, 27, was arrested without incident.
 
Dah was transported to an area hospital for evaluation.
 
Defendant Dah is charged with Grand Larceny 4 th Degree, Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 4 th Degree and Criminal Mischief 4 th Degree. He ill be arraigned on Friday, September 20, 2024 at First District Court, Hempstead.
