Tea And Me
The earliest recorded evidence of the cultivation of tea plants comes from China in the 14th century. Many believe though that the plant originated in India. Brewing tea leaves for drinking spread from China to Japan and formal tea ceremonies evolved. During the 1620's it was introduced into Europe. Later, tea was imported by the American colonists, and it's subsequent taxation led to the "Boston Tea Party" in 1773.
For centuries, many cultures have regarded Tea as The "Elixir Of Life". Over the years, Tea has become one of the beverages consumed most universally and is often found at the center of many social activities.
Tea has several meanings:
1.An infusion made from Tea leaves (Including: herbs and spices)
2. Tea like drinks such as blends.
3. A light afternoon lunch or evening meal or snack served with Tea.
"High Tea" is traditionally served with scones, clotted cream, jam, petite finger sandwiches and miniature deserts. And of course, Tea.
There are 6 categories of tea and hundreds of bagged herbs and spices that are still referred to as Tea.
Please tune in monthly for an in depth look into the world of Tea.
