Glowing red window lights suggest that the brick building at 47A Roselle Street in Mineola may not be your typical warehouse. It is, in fact, The Long Island Monster Gallery, Long Island’s only gallery dedicated to horror cinema and art. This hidden gem for horror enthusiasts houses over 35 life-size—and lifelike—movie monster replicas handmade by special effects artists from around the world.
The gallery is the brainchild of Long Island native and lifelong horror and Halloween fan and collector, Jason Kloos, who said, “I had always been a collector and once my collection grew large enough, I decided it would be neat to share it with other horror fans.” The venue debuted last year and has reopened for the Halloween season.

Visitors can enjoy an immersive experience exploring two floors of horror movie madmen, monsters, and mysterious creatures including Regan MacNeil from “The Exorcist,” Killer Klowns, Pinhead, Chucky, Michael Meyers from “Halloween,” Dracula, and many others. Characters from family-friendly films like “Ghostbusters” and “Beetlejuice” are also on display. Read trivia about the movies and monsters, while theatrical sets, special lighting, and movie soundtracks set a spooky mood. Photos and videos are encouraged—and there are plenty of photo opportunities from posing with the giant Demogorgon from "Stranger Things" to hanging out with The Fly in his laboratory.
According to Kloos, two of the most-talked about pieces this year are Annie Wilkes (Kathy Bates) from the film "Misery" and The Wicked Witch of the West (Margaret Hamilton) from "The Wizard of Oz." Both pieces are by Salem, Massachusetts-based figure sculptor and special effects artist Chad O’Connell.
The gallery is not a haunted house, but rather an artistic showcase of strikingly realistic full-size horror icons. “The Monster Gallery was created BY horror fans FOR horror fans,” said Kloos. “The best part about opening the gallery has been meeting artists and fellow horror fans that share a passion for the genre. We are so thankful for the support of our customers and are incredibly excited to return for the 2022 season.”
The Long Island Monster Gallery is open weekends and Friday evenings in October, as well as Halloween night and the first Saturday of November. Advanced reservations are required and must be booked online at the gallery’s website. Tickets prices are $28 + fees for adults (Age 12+) and $20 + fees for children (Age 5-11). Reservations guarantee guests one full hour inside the gallery.
