Sea Cliff Man Arrested for Assault After High-Speed Chase in Glenwood Landing

The Sixth Squad reports the arrest of a Sea Cliff man for an Assault that occurred on Thursday, October 3, 2024 at 10:45 a.m. in Glenwood Landing.
 
According to Detectives, Officers observed a Toyota RAV 4 speeding in the vicinity of Prospect Avenue and Little Worth Lane. Officers attempted to conduct a Vehicle and Traffic Law stop, but the vehicle sped away as Officers were approaching. A short time later the vehicle stopped near the intersection of Shore Road and Glenwood Road. As Officers approached, the operator of the vehicle, defendant Milton Viana, 49, of 16 Altamont Avenue exited and attempted to flee the scene on foot. One Officer sustained injuries during the course of the arrest as the defendant was violent and combative while resisting arrest. The Officer was
transported to a local area hospital for treatment.
 
Defendant Viana is charged with Assault 2 nd Degree, Unlawful Fleeing 3 rd Degree, Obstructing Governmental Administration 2 nd Degree, Criminal Mischief 3 rd Degree, Reckless Driving, Resisting Arrest and multiple Vehicle Traffic Infractions. He will be arraigned on Friday, October 4, 2024 at First District Court, 99 Main Street in Hempstead.
