Tragic Pedestrian Fatality: Suffolk County Police Investigate Early Morning Crash on Sunrise Highway
Suffolk County Police First Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that killed a pedestrian in Lindenhurst early this morning.
Jeffrey Schmohl was crossing Sunrise Highway at North Greene Avenue when he was struck by an eastbound 2005 Toyota RAV-4 at 5:18 a.m.
Schmohl, 65, of West Babylon, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, 58, of Lindenhurst, was alone in the vehicle and uninjured.
The Toyota was impounded for a safety check.
