Fatal Vehicular Accident in Baldwin: Pedestrian Killed After Being Struck by Cargo Truck

The Homicide Squad is investigating a Fatal Vehicular Accident that occurred in Baldwin on Friday, October 18, 2024 at 6:20 am.
 
According to detectives, First Precinct Police responded for a 59-year-old male driving a 2019 cargo truck north on Coes road in the vicinity of Notre Dame Court. The vehicle swerved to avoid a car that was backing up onto the roadway and struck a 44-year-old male pedestrian walking on the shoulder of the roadway.
 
The male victim suffered severe head trauma and was unconscious. A Nassau County Police Medic responded and pronounced the victim deceased. There were no other injuries reported. The cargo truck and driver remained a scene.
 
The investigation is ongoing.
