Long Island Theatre Spotlight: AUTHORS' PLAYHOUSE Authors' Playhouse brings quality entertainment to the South Shore region of Long Island's Suffolk County. A key contributor to the continuing revitalization of downtown Bay Shore, Authors' Playhouse is a professional community theatre spotlighting local talent in original, classical and popular plays. Authors' Playhouse also reaches out to serve special segments of the local audience, including senior citizens and the Hispanic community. In addition, Authors' Playhouse presents a robust line-up of children's theatre productions. Authors' Playhouse offers educational acting, stagecraft and playwriting, youth outreach programs, and special musical, comedy and other events. One block south from train station to Main Street. 34 West Main Street between Park and Maple Avenues. Long Island Rail Road Schedules By Car from the West (New York City and Nassau County): Long Island Expressway, EASTBOUND OR Grand Central Parkway (which becomes the Northern State Parkway), EASTBOUND to the Sagtikos Parkway - Sunken Meadow Parkway.* Take that SOUTH to Southern State Parkway EASTBOUND to Exit 42, which says Fifth Avenue South (toward Bay Shore) to Fifth Avenue southbound over Sunrise Highway to Route 27A (Main Street-Montauk Highway) eastbound for one half mile. The Playhouse is on the right-hand side of street, between Park Avenue and Maple Avenue *NOTE: The Sagtikos Parkway and the Sunken Meadow Parkway are the same road. NORTH of the Long Island Expressway, it's called the Sunken Meadow, because it goes to the north shore's Sunken Meadow Park. SOUTH of the LIE, it's called the Sagtikos.
