SCPD Officers Rescue Man Who Fell Waist-Deep into Mud Hole for Over Two Hours

Dix Hills, NY - October 22, 2018 - Suffolk County Police Emergency Service and Second Precinct officers along with several fire departments helped rescue a man who fell into a mud hole in Dix Hills on Friday, October 19.
 
Trevor Borders was digging on the side of the foundation of a house, located on Woodfern Court when he started to sink at approximately 10:10 a.m. Borders tried to free himself but fell waist-deep into the mud hole, approximately eight feet into the ground. He was conscious and alert the entire time.
 
First Responders used a pulley and harness system to pull Borders out at approximately 12:40 p.m.
 
Suffolk County Police Medical Crisis Action Team (MedCAT), Fourth Precinct officers along with the Dix Hills, Huntington Manor, and East Farmingdale Fire Departments assisted.  
 
Borders, 22, of Bay Shore was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip for evaluation.
