Brentwood, NY - October 24, 2014 - Suffolk County Police Pattern Crime detectives have arrested a man responsible for a series of gas station robberies occurring throughout the Copiague, Central Islip, Brentwood, Bay Shore, Hauppauge, Islip Terrace, and Holtsville areas.
On October 22, 2014, at approximately 10:55 p.m., a male entered an Express Gas located at 1034 Islip Ave., Brentwood and robbed the clerk of cash. The suspect was captured a short time following the robbery. Detectives from the Pattern Crime Unit conducting investigations into previous similar robberies determined that the individual was responsible for eleven other robberies dating back to August 20, 2014.
David Murphy, 30, of Brentwood was charged with seven counts of Robbery 1st Degree, five counts of Robbery 2nd Degree, and Resisting Arrest.
The robberies occurred at the following times and locations.

- Wave Gas, 1680 N. Ocean Ave., Holtsville on September 2, 2014
- Shell Gas, 1000 Motor Pkwy., Central Islip on September 13, 2014
- Shell Gas, 642 Motor Pkwy., Brentwood on September 21, 2014
- Stop and Fuel, 1171 N. Service Rd., Sunrise Hwy., Bay Shore on September 30, 2014
- Gulf Gas, 1201 Sunrise Hwy., Copiague on September 30, 2014
- Mobil Gas, 700 Motor Pkwy., Hauppauge on October 3, 2014
- Mobil Gas, N. Service Rd., Sunrise Hwy., Islip Terrace on October 10, 2014
- Gulf Gas, 1201 Sunrise Hwy., Copiague on October 12, 2014
- Gulf Quick Mart, 750 Motor Pkwy., Brentwood on October 17, 2014
- Express Gas, 1034 Islip Ave., Brentwood on October 22, 2014
Murphy is being held at the 7th Precinct in Shirley and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on October 24.
