Suffolk County SPCA Arrests Amityville Woman on Animal Cruelty Charges; Shih Tzu 'Richard' Finds New Loving Home After Rescue

Amityville woman charged with animal cruelty after neglected Shih Tzu is rescued and adopted into a caring home.

After an intensive investigation, detectives from the Suffolk County SPCA arrested an Amityville resident on charges of animal cruelty on October 23, 2024.

 

Roy Gross, Chief of the Suffolk County SPCA, said that its detective charged Carolyn Robinson, 59, with misdemeanor animal cruelty. A three-year-old male Shih Tzu poodle mix, Richard, was found to be severely matted, covered with fleas, with patches of missing fur, and an open untreated wound. The dog was removed from the home and immediately taken to a veterinarian for necessary treatment.

 

Richard has since been adopted into a loving family, where he is receiving the care and attention he needs.

 

Robinson is scheduled to appear in First District Court in Central Islip on November 12, 2024.
