West Hempstead Woman Arrested for Leaving 10-Month-Old Baby Alone in Parked Car, Faces Charges of Child Endangerment

A West Hempstead woman, Amber-Rose Danahy, was arrested for leaving her crying 10-month-old baby unattended in a parked car behind Lidl, leading to child endangerment charges.

The Public Information Office reports the arrest of a West Hempstead woman
for an incident that occurred on Monday, October 30, 2023 at 2:42 pm in Franklin
Square.
 
According to Officers, a 911 called was generated by a witness who observed
an infant left unattended in a parked vehicle behind Lidl located at 696 Dogwood
Avenue. Upon police arrival, Officers observed an unsupervised male infant, ten-
month-old, in the rear seat of the vehicle crying. Officers utilized a lockout kit to
open the door and remove the child from the vehicle. An ambulance arrived and a
Nassau County Police Medic evaluated the infant.
 
A subsequent investigation by officers determined, Defendant Amber-Rose
Danahy, 25, of 616 Theresa Avenue, was responsible for leaving her child
unattended and was placed under arrest without incident. The child was placed in
the custody of a family member.
 
Defendant Amber-Rose Danahy is charged with Endangering the Welfare of a
Child and will be arraigned on Tuesday, October 31, 2023 at First District Court, 99
Main Street, Hempstead.
