VALLEY STREAM, NY - Central Veterinary Associates has announced that Dr. Colleen Clark, Dr. Jenna Heusi, and Dr. Virginia Jurgens have joined the hospital as its Associate Doctors. As part of a group of 16 doctors and more than 100 support staff members, they will be responsible for providing emergency and critical care for animals at Central Veterinary Associates' facility in Valley Stream, which operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Dr. Clark, who lives in Merrick, grew up enjoying horseback riding. She has a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the State University of New York at Binghamton. Upon graduation, she worked for two years as a technician for Bide-A-Wee in Wantagh. This summer, she graduated from The Royal Veterinary College in London.
A former Ohio native, Dr. Heusi graduated cum laude with a Bachelor's degree in zoology from Miami University. She later attended St. George's University where she obtained her degree in veterinary medicine. From 2009 to 2011, she worked as an associate veterinarian at Deer Park Animal Hospital, where she treated both surgical and non-surgical animal cases. Before coming to Central Veterinary Associates, she moved to Manhattan, where she performed per-diem work.
Dr. Jurgens recently graduated from St. George's University Veterinary School and just finished her clinical training at North Carolina State. She also graduated cum laude from Stony Brook University with a Bachelor's degree in biology. While attending Stony Brook, she worked part-time as a groomer's assistant. The Woodhaven resident spent five of her last seven summers working as a full-time veterinarian's assistant at several veterinary facilities in Queens County.
"We are glad to have these new doctors join our facility," said Dr. Steven Fox, President/Chief Executive Officer, Central Veterinary Associates. "These veterinarians are very knowledgeable about animal medicine, they are hard-working and they love animals. The additions to our staff indicate that we are growing and we are available to provide services to more pet owners on Long Island and the metropolitan New York area around the clock."
