Juvenile Arrested for Robbery at North New Hyde Park Target

The Third Squad reports the arrest of a male juvenile for a Robbery that occurred on Tuesday, November 5, 2024 at 3:50 pm in North New Hyde Park.
 
According to detectives, a male juvenile, 17, entered Target located at 1400 Union Turnpike. The juvenile than entered the electronics department where he tampered and damaged a merchandise protection device before concealing the item. The defendant than passed all points of purchase without rendering payment and attempted to exit the store. A loss prevention officer confronted the juvenile and a struggle ensued. The defendant than dropped
the merchandise and fled scene on foot. A short time later, the defendant was located and placed under arrest without incident.
 
Subsequent to the investigation, a black knife was recovered on the juvenile. No injuries were reported.
 
The defendant is charged with Robbery 3 rd Degree, Criminal Mischief 4 th Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4 th Degree. He will be arraigned on Wednesday, November 6, 2024 at Nassau County First District Court-Youth Part in Hempstead.
