Man Seriously Injured in Mastic Beach Shooting

Suffolk County Police Seventh Squad detectives are investigating a shooting that seriously injured a man in Mastic Beach last night.
 
Following an altercation with another man in front of Track Gas Station, located at 310 Neighborhood Road in Mastic Beach, a man fired a gun into the sidewalk and then fled on foot at approximately 6:50 p.m. The other man followed and confronted the shooter in front of 29C Commack Road in Mastic Beach, and the shooter then shot him in the torso at approximately 7 p.m. The shooter then fled on foot westbound on Commack Road.
 
The 38-year-old victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
Detectives are asking anyone with information on the shooting to call the Seventh Squad at 631-852-8752 or call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
