Man Arrested for Killing His Grandmother
Suffolk County Police today arrested a man for stabbing his grandmother to death in Amityville.
First Precinct officers responded to 9 Watkins Terrace at approximately 7:30 a.m. after a 911 caller reported a stabbing at the residence. It was determined that Dwight Clermont stabbed his grandmother,
Miraccia Leopold. Leopold, 81, who lived at the home, was transported to Good Samaritan University Hospital in West Islip where she was pronounced dead.
Clermont, 28, who is homeless, was arrested and charged with Murder 2nd Degree. He will be held overnight at the Third Precinct and will be arraigned on November 12 at First District Court in Central Islip.
