Project 21 Sting Nets Two: Nassau County Crackdown on Illegal Sales to Minors

During Nassau County's "Project 21" initiative, two individuals were arrested for selling tobacco products to minors as part of a law enforcement effort to combat underage access to restricted items.

The Third Precinct reports the arrest of two (2) individuals during the “Project 21” initiative, which targets the sale of alcoholic beverages and tobacco products to minors. The initiative was conducted on Wednesday, November 15, 2023 at 5:00 pm in Nassau County.
 
According to officers, the Problem Oriented Policing (POP) Unit, with the assistance of underage agents, arrested the following individuals as a result of this operation.
 
Himansu Jaisukhlal Patel, 61 of 902 Linden Avenue, Westbury, sold tobacco products to a minor at Fortune Smoke Shop Inc., 527 Old Country Road, Westbury and Cindy E. Granados Vigil, 21, of 1242 Birch Street, Uniondale, sold tobacco products to a minor at Hempstead Convenience and Smoke, 2125 Hempstead Turnpike, East Meadow.
 
Both defendants are charged with Unlawfully Dealing with a Child 2nd Degree and Sale of Age Restricted Products. They were issued Appearance Tickets returnable on Wednesday, December 6, 2023 to First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
