Mother Arrested: Philadelphia Woman Faces Charges for Leaving Four Young Children Unattended in Parked Car at East Meadow Walmart!

The Public Information Office reports the arrest of a Philadelphia woman for
an incident that occurred on Thursday, November 16, 2023 at 6:56 am in East
Meadow.
 
According to officers, a 911 call was received reporting that four young
children had been left unattended in a parked car at Walmart, located at 2465
Hempstead Turnpike. Upon police arrival, officers observed a 7-year-old female, 5-
year-old male, 3-year-old male and a 2-year-old female inside the unlocked vehicle.
Responding officers gained access to the vehicle through an unlocked door and
requested an ambulance respond to the scene. The children were transported to a
local hospital for evaluation.
 
A subsequent investigation by officers determined, Ilania Rios, 26, of 709 Tree
Street, Philadelphia, was responsible for leaving her children unattended and was
placed under arrest without incident.
 
The four children were released into foster care services.
Defendant Rios is charged with four counts of Endangering the Welfare of a
Child. She will be arraigned on Friday, November 17, 2023 at First District Court, 99
Main Street, Hempstead.
