Worldwide Candle Lighting Day Goes Virtual: Join COPE in Honoring Lost Loved Ones
To honor the memories of sons, daughters, brothers, sisters, and grandchildren who are never be forgotten, the nonprofit organization COPE invites Long Islanders to participate in the annual Worldwide Candle Lighting Day on Sunday, December 10. This free online event will take place globally at 7 p.m. local time, uniting hundreds of thousands in remembrance and tribute to children who departed too soon.
The COPE Foundation is a nonprofit organization that provides free grief support resources, services, and workshops to children, adults, and families on Long Island.
Worldwide Candle Lighting Day Details:
Date: Sunday, December 10
Time: 6:30 - 7:30 p.m.
Location: Virtual and online - A secure Zoom link will be provided to registrants.
Participants are encouraged to prepare a candle, ready to be safely lit, and bring a photograph of their loved one to be featured in the program. The program begins at 6:30 p.m., leading up to the national candle lighting moment at 7 p.m.
Registration is open until the end of the day on December 9. While the event is free, donations are welcome and will contribute to supporting grieving parents and families.

COPE is a 501(c) (3) organization dedicated to providing emotional support to individuals and families who are struggling to cope with life after the loss of a child. Over almost a quarter of a century, it has grown from a small group of families meeting in each others’ homes to a support network of over 2,000 families meeting, gathering and healing.
COPE offers parent, sibling, and teen bereavement groups and Camp Erin NYC, a free weekend bereavement camp for children and teens ages 7-17 who are grieving the death of someone close to them. COPE also provides spiritual and therapeutic programs, as well as appropriate resources and referrals.
